Ich bin Wissenschaftler und habe viele Bachelor-, Master- und Doktoranden betreut. Daher weiß ich, wovon ich spreche, wenn ich wissenschaftliche Aufsätze und Dissertationen bewerte.
Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach ist Bundesgesundheitsminister und promovierte an der Havard School of Public Health. Heute habe ich mir die Zeit genommen, seine Dissertation zu lesen, die offline genommen wurde, aber immer noch über die Wayback Machine zugänglich ist (Link Extern).
Ich habe in meinem ganzen Leben noch nie eine so unwissenschaftliche Dissertation gelesen. Es ist voller philosophischer Weisheiten, enthält aber keine klaren Hypothesen, Experimente, Datenanalysen … nichts! Seine wissenschaftliche Arbeit wäre nicht einmal als Bachelorarbeit durchgegangen.
Und doch wurde er promoviert und drei Jahre später von der Universität zu Köln zum ordentlichen Professor ernannt, ohne Postdoc und den üblichen Tenure Track zu durchlaufen. Das riecht nach Korruption und wirft viele weitere Fragen auf.

“Is Karl Lauterbach an impostor ? I am afraid the answer is ‘YES’.
I am a scientist, and I have supervised many Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students. I consequently know what I am talking about when assessing scientific essays and dissertations.
Prof. Dr. Karl Lauterbach is the German Minister of Health and got his PhD degree at the Havard School of Public Health. Today, I took the time to read his dissertation, which has been taken offline but is still accessible via the Wayback Machine (Link Extern).
I have never read such an unscientific dissertation in my whole life. It is full of philosophical pearls of wisdom but does not contain any clear hypotheses, experiments, data analyses… nothing! His scientific work wouldn’t even have passed as a Bachelor’s student’s term paper.
And yet, he received his doctoral degree and was made a full professor by the University of Cologne three years later without having done a post-doc and following the usual tenure track. This smells like corruption and raises many more questions.
